"JUST SAY NO" TO GAS-POWERED LEAF BLOWERS
— as Washington D.C.’s City Council has now done! Read more about the successful completion of a three-year effort here.
We thought leaf blowers were just a noisy nuisance . . . then we learned of the alarming hazards. Quiet Clean D.C. (QCDC) is a non-profit group striving to phase out obsolete, two-stroke, gasoline-powered lawn care equipment.
Help DC KEEP Leading the Way!
QCDC is endorsed by the Sierra Club and by 14 of Washington D.C.'s Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, representing well over 40 neighborhoods across the District, and represented with this testimony before the D.C. City Council.
And as of December, 2018, the City Council has unanimously passed, and Mayor Muriel Bowser has signed, Council Member Mary Cheh’s BIll 22-234, which mandates a shift throughout the District away from noisy, hyper-polluting gas-powered leaf blowers, and to modern, clean battery-powered models, over the next three year.
